I bought a refurbished 12″ PowerBook with OS X 10.4 Tiger on it, and the OS X missing manual book. I read through the book and did various tasks that I would with a regular FOSS *nix install. I wasn’t the greatest with unix-like operating systems at the time, but I could get around and work with services, install software, etc. As I’m going through the book, I realize this isn’t Unix. FreeBSD and Debian/RHEL are Unix. macOS is not Unix. It doesn’t work like the FOSS *nixes, which are the de facto Unix standard bearers.
